Disposable Plates made from palm leaves

Marx Foods gave me a sample of disposable palm plates to try and review. I passed them along to some friends.

This is a stub entry where they can leave comments.

I haven’t added any links or explanations because I’m writing this on a phone while on vacation in Chicago. Whee!

initial impressions:

neat!

erm, i wonder how they hold up to liquids?

first test:

i heated delish sausage and pasta in a microwave. no deformation of the palm plate (this machine regularly melts disposable plastic).

the tomato sauce unpleasantly softened and then got stuck in the texture on the plate – making it too icky to consider reusing

i’ll prolly only use ’em for solids, going forward

If you save me some of your used plates, I’ll see how well they compost.

I was supplied them by Marx Foods, and their prices for buying the plates are here. You’d never have to do dishes again.
